Services
Jan Valls
I offer mixing, mastering, production, and recording services, tailored to the needs of each project and with flexible working options — in-person, online, or hybrid. I work with professional digital and analog equipment, always aiming for every song to sound with its full personality and emotion. In addition, I apply a progressive pricing system, so that the budget adjusts more easily when there are more hours or more songs to work on.
Mixing
You can bring me your song as individual tracks, and we’ll mix it together. Tell me what it’s about, how you imagine it, and what you’d like it to convey — we’ll work to make it sound at the highest level. I work with external hardware that allows me to mix both digitally and in a hybrid setup (analog and digital), taking advantage of the best of both worlds.
We can work in different ways: in person, by coming to the studio; remotely, with real-time listening and no loss of quality; or in a “ping-pong” format, exchanging tracks, tests, and feedback until we find the perfect mix.
As for pricing, I use a progressive rate system that adjusts more fairly the more hours we work together. The base rate is €40/hour*. A full 8-hour day comes to €300, and if we work several consecutive days (8 hours each), the rate adjusts to €280/day.
Mastering
Send me your mix, and we’ll master it. If you’re not familiar with the concept, mastering is the final stage of music production — the last chance to fix anything that isn’t working and to fine-tune the sound to where the song needs it. It’s done from the final mix file, usually without a limiter if there is one. That said, I appreciate it if you also send the limited version so I can hear what you were listening to in the studio and how the mix you liked sounded, ensuring that nothing gets lost.
I usually work remotely, as mastering involves many small, subtle adjustments that, combined, make a noticeable difference (the usual reaction is: “I can’t tell exactly what changed, but it sounds so much better”). However, if you like, you’re welcome to come to the studio and watch the mastering process.
Regarding pricing, I also use a progressive rate system for mastering. The more tracks we work on at once, the more cost-effective it becomes. The rate is €70 per track, with a €5 discount per additional track in the same batch, down to a minimum of €35 per track. For example: one track costs €70; two tracks, €65 each; three tracks, €60 each, and so on.
Production / recording
If you have a project in mind and have been thinking about it for a while but don’t know where to start, get in touch and we’ll talk about it. I collaborate with several recording studios that rent me the space without an in-house engineer, and I go there to handle the work as your engineer. This way, depending on your project’s needs, we can choose the studio that suits you best, in terms of space, equipment, and budget.
Additionally, in my own studio I have the space and equipment needed to record vocals, guitars, bass, or any small-format instrument.
Prices exclude 21% VAT. If you’re self-employed or a company, just provide your billing information, and I’ll issue an invoice so you can claim my services as a business expense.
